What’s the Science? A Night of Poetic Game Play

Enjoy the literary side of science with writers Tamara Oakman, Grant Clauser, Chris McCreary, Bryan Dickey, Rasheedah Phillips, Kathryn Ionata, Kyrwin Sutherland, Matt Charles, and Maggie Eighteen selected by The Apiary Corp., Bedfellows, Philadelphia Stories, Gigantic Sequins, Cleaver Magazine, Thread Makes Blanket, Painted Bride Quarterly, The AfroFuturist Affair, Metropolarity and Fact-Simile Editions.

Writers respond to the prompt "What's the Science?" to describe how they imagine (or prefer to imagine) various phenomena occur, collaboratively creating a new cosmology. From sweaty suns to train rainbows, you're sure to delight in this new world.

Sci/Fi, Superheroes, & Sorcery: An Evening of Geeky Poetry with The Apiary Corp

Tattooed Mom's 530 South Street, Philadelphia

Sonnets for cyborgs, limericks about wizards, free form foncrete poems about your secret identity in the shape of your superhero symbol. All forms of geeky poetry will be welcome at Tattooed Mom on April 30th starting at 7:00 pm! We’ve paired up with The Apiary Corp. to bring you a night full of SF/F poetry.

Featuring the poetic stylings of Fran Wilde, the night will also be open to anyone who would like to share their innermost musings on the plight of dragons, AI love, or any topic from fandom.

The open mic will work on a first come/first serve basis, so if you want to read, make sure you get there early and sign up!

In addition to some excellent poetry, we’ll be raffling off an assortment of prizes courtesy of your favorite local comic shops and Tattooed Mom's

2014 Trans Literary Salon

Leeway Foundation 1315 Walnut Street, Suite 832, Philadelphia

In conjunction with the 2014 Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference, the Leeway Foundation presents their Second Trans Literary Salon highlighting the work of emerging literary artists from a diversity of genres including poetry, fiction, memoir, and spoken word. The salon will feature readings from Annie Mok, (ACG ’13), Darkmatter, Imogen Binnie, J Mase III (ACG ’07), and Kokumomedia Inc.. Audience members are invited to bring work to share. Hosted by J Mason III. Thursday, June 12 from 7:30pm – 9:00pm at the Leeway Foundation (1315 Walnut Street, Suite 832). Location is wheelchair accessible.
